NPS-WY Yellowstone National Park Awards Wetland Delineation / Rare Plant Survey Task Order to GeomorphIS Team

The National Park Service (NPS) has tasked the GeomorphIS/Watershed Consulting team to complete wetland surveys and delineations, and rare plant surveys for areas within the Lake and Canyon Development areas in Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming. The team will conduct determination and delineation mapping of all wetlands and all other “waters of the United States” subject to jurisdiction under Section 404 of the Clean Water Act and all wetlands subject to NPS procedures for implementing Director’s Order #77‐1. Wetland Protection is needed in the Lake and Canyon areas identified for fuels reduction. The team will delineate and map all wetlands over five meters-squared, and will photograph and map location of all rare plants found within the treatment areas.

GeomorphIS Team to Prepare Forest-Wide Rx Fire EA for Mendocino National Forest

The US Forest Service (USFS) Pacific Southwest Region has tasked GeomorphIS to provide National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) support to the Mendocino National Forest, California in preparation of of a Forest-wide Prescribed Fire Environmental Assessment (EA). The work is divided into three phases. Phase 1 is to prepare, and have accepted by the Forest’s line officers, a project framework. Phase 2 includes compliance with the National Forest Management Act (NFMA) and pre-NEPA analysis of all potentially impacted resource areas, as agreed to by MNF line officers. Phase 3 includes the actions necessary to complete the analysis and issue the NEPA decision. The GeomorphIS team will provide the project record, in a format approved by the Forest Environmental Coordinator or their Acting, at the conclusion of the project to facilitate response to any objection or litigation. The target date for the final decision is mid-2021. GeomorphIS is providing a team including IDT Coordinator, NEPA Planners, Fire-Fuel Specialist, Hydrologist, Wildlife Biologist, Botanist, Archaeologist, GIS specialist, and NEPA Writer-Editor.
