GeomorphIS to Conduct Mud Flat Milkvetch Survey for BLM-Idaho

The Bureau of Land Management (BLM) has tasked the GeomorphIS-Pyramid Botanical Consulting team to conduct field monitoring and prepare a monitoring report for Mud Flat milkvetch (Astragalus yoder-williamsii) in the Owyhee Uplands of western Idaho. The Mud Flat Milkvetch is a BLM Type 3 species that has had documented impacts from livestock grazing within its range in the Bruneau Field Office. Mud Flat milkvetch populations were last fully inventoried in 1993 (IDFG, 1993). At that time, there were 23 known occurrences and an estimate of at least 50,000 individuals. Since this time, additional populations have been identified and new projects such pipelines and troughs and treatments such as juniper thinning have been added to occupied habitat. The objective of this project is to obtain population data on the species and habitat data that will help inform management decisions.
